What Is Knee Replacement? Total knee replacement (TKR), also referred to as total knee arthroplasty (TKA), is a surgical procedure where worn, diseased, or damaged surfaces of a knee joint are removed and replaced with artificial surfaces. Materials used for resurfacing of the joint are not only strong and durable but also optimal for joint function as they produce as little friction as possible.

Las prótesis totales de rodilla constituyen uno de los implantes más colocados en el ámbito de la ortopedia. El número de modelos existentes en el mercado es muy elevado y todos tienen sus características. A pesar de ello podemos agrupar las artroplastias de rodilla por estas caracterísricas, siendo las prótesis de platillo móvil el grupo más novedoso. Revisamos la bibliogrfía más reciente sobre la biomecánica de las prótesis totales de rodilla, englobando aspectos como los materiales, el polietileno, la fijación, la geometría o la presencia del ligamento cruzado posterior para entender en profundidad el funcionemiento de una PTR. ¿Por que me tengo que operar?
Hoy me dijo el traumatólogo que me yengo que operar de la rodilla pues tengo artrosis severa y debo sustituirla por una protesis
Voy a estudiar la rodilla y si ese es el unico remedio, yo practico karate y al parecer ya no lo podré parcticar más! :(
